Welcome to the Tech Sprouts. It’s all about blogging, online business, startups and social media services. My name is Nitin Agarwal, having more than 5 years of experience in blogging and online business; I have started my own dotcom company to provide some serious business consultancy to boost your business and brand online.

About Me

On May 2nd, 1988, I was born in a Marwari family of Pilani, India. I had always felt like that entrepreneurship is running like blood in my veins but I will discuss about this feeling later. First, let me tell you about my birthplace, Pilani.

I know you are wondering that why I am emphasizing to know about my birth place? What’s so special about this town of Rajasthan? Let’s read it here.

Pilanialso famous by the name of Education City, is a small town of State of Rajasthan, India. It is located 300 Kilometers west from the country capital and has its own special presence on country’s map. Pilani lies in the Shekhawati region (The three districts Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Churu of Rajasthan are collectively called as Shekhawati) which, as people says, has entrepreneurship in its air, water, and soil.

The soil of Shekhawati has given birth to some business tycoons who are not only known to India but also to the rest of the world. These entrepreneurs have not only shaken the world from their entrepreneurial skills but are inspiring role models for new entrepreneurs like me as well.

Shekhawati is the birth place of Birla group, Lakhsmi Niwas Mittal (the steel king), Loyalkas, Goenkas, Dalmias, Piramal group, Agarwals, Singhanias, Kanodias, Poddar, Jalans, Morarkas, Singhis and many more to name. All of these big multi-billionaire business houses of India have their own inspiring story of from being nothing to being everything.

(I have shared about them here just to support the saying of Shekhawati being called as the land of entrepreneurs and also because I am inspired from many of them).

Being a guy from Shekhawati region is not the only reason which makes me feel like having entrepreneurship in my blood but the second reason is my family in which I took birth. My family is in business from last 100 or more years, my father, grandfather, great grandfather, and their father only knows how to do business.

The early life as an entrepreneur

When I was in school, I use to do different kind of trading and business to earn some extra bucks for my extra hobbies (gears n gadgets). I was an early adopter of technology in my community and having access to the internet, mobiles and computer at the time when many others didn’t have, gave me the opportunity to make good money.

I used to make and sell computer projects, give my cellphone on rent, sell burned CDs of software, music and movies, mobile downloading, buying and selling of used cellphones (which I still do), and few more activities which made me good money but none of them is a fix paying business as I didn’t create any proper channel to do any of it and some business were eventually shutdown because of the changing world as the technology became too common like when many of people has started affording cellphones, my cellphone renting business was locked down. Everybody was having computers which made mobile downloading, CD burning and downloading business in dust. But till then I became sure about one thing that I am going to make my entrepreneurial career in cellphone and internet industry.

Choosing Blogging and Internet Marketer as a career

Few say they are blogger by profession, other say they are blogger by choice but I say I am blogger by birth! Because the World Blogger Day is celebrated on 2nd of May every year and yes, it’s my birth date.  It was destined and decided very early and far in some other world about me being a blogger so, how come I would be able to deny it and here I am, running several blogs and doing blogging with a never ending passion.

Few years ago, I was unaware of what blogging is and how one can make living out of it but later on when I started figuring out about this business, trust me, it amazed me like I’ve seen an alien from a distant planet of another galaxy of this universe.

All this started because of my growing interest in tweaking and playing around with Windows. So, to learn about new tips and tricks which I could apply on my system to impress my friends and teachers, I started visiting many websites and forums a lot. I got in touch with few Microsoft MVPs and Windows Guru which were assisting PC users on many forums and communities regarding their computer problems. They were running blogs as well to share and organize their knowledge at one place which eventually helping them in making good amount of money via AdSense program.

So, with a motto to give it a shot, I created my first blog using Google Blogspot platform and later on moved to WordPress, a big thanks to Matt Mullenweg for creating it! And a year later, Microsoft has awarded me with their prestigious MVP award for my contribution and volunteer work at online communities. Till now, I have been awarded three times in a row by Microsoft which makes me feel awesome and a big main reason of where I stand today. Anand Khanse, owner of TheWindowsClub, is one my main role model who also helped me in indulging in this business.

After getting awarded as an MVP for the very first time, like many other MVPs, I decided to start a blog. And with the help of Ramesh Kumar, my close friend and an MVP, I started Windows Lifestyle, my first ever self-hosted WordPress blog. The blog is still runs but I have stopped updating it too frequently.

Windows Lifestyle became a playground for me to conduct my experiments related to the SEO, blog design elements, Social Media integration, creating controversies in community and many other things. I still use this blog to do many new experiments, analyze data and see results.

Later on I started few other blogs, some on my own and some in partnership with friends. Right now I own five active blogs and having many in pipeline, making me good enough money to have a team of 20+ members.

The other blogs I run are:

The knowledge which I gained from my research work, experiments and reading blogs of many other popular bloggers helped me in establishing myself a fulltime blogger, an online business consultant and an Internet Marketer.

You can read about my blog consultancy services and online brand promotion, marketing and Social Media services here.

I am still exploring the online world and preparing myself for the upcoming adventures of entrepreneurship and startup environment.

The Failure

A year ago, when I had started making good money on my own with my blogs and online business, I thought of taking it to the next level. But without doing proper planning and blindfold believing on my instincts, I did a huge investment and started working like other million dollar companies and soon ended up in huge losses and debts.

I had decided to give my online business a proper physical address and without properly scaling everything, I moved to the capital, Delhi, to setup an office to run my business more professionally. But within few months, I realized that it was a wrong decision to start an office such big with properly setting up a business model. I got struck by reality and ended up paying for my instincts!

But this failure made me learn a lot of things which trust me, no one can learn without experiencing themselves. Being a failure for the first time everybody started suggesting me to choose something else may be a Job for my career but my entrepreneur bug inside has motivated me all the time to never give up in my downcast times. This helped me in striking the second successful shot as well.

Being failed once, the taste of success feels so good that one can’t explain! I personally believe that failures are not meant to do wrong to you but to show you the mistakes and wrong steps who have taken towards the path of success.

I will later on share about the things which I have learned from my mistakes in the coming posts of this blog.

The Present Life

After wasting thousands of dollars and nearly finishing everything, I started working back again after taking a long break of 3 months and with the new approach, planning and lined up of things which are really necessary to do instead of wasting resources and energy on which is less important.

I am right now playing many roles in working with many clients and few startups and paying more attention towards my blog consultancy and Social Media business. The few roles apart a business owner, I am playing right now are:

  • Blog Manager
  • Social Media Manager
  • Online Business Consultant
  • Blogging Consultant
  • Internet Marketer
  • AdSense Adviser
  • Web Author
  • Web Analyst
